Few days ago, after my hard and long searching, i finally found my friend TY on facebook. TS is persevering in his fight with his cancer at the moment.
Then i left a message on her inbox, with TS saying :
"Do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieveing for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.
For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" 2 Corin 4:16-18
As i speak those words to them, i am greatly encouraged by it.
Being woman, we have something very real to worry about. Well not really worry, but the media and people around us
are reminding us that fine lines is appearing. The other day, i went to John Lewis and i was persuaded to buy a £32 Lancome eye cream for those fine lines that's appearing. Please note, it's fine lines, not wrinkles. Okay, you heard it clear.
All the cosmetics and cream and advert is trying to preserve your appearance and stop the clock. Even medicine has its downfall. We try to prolong life but not necessary the quality of life. With drugs and tablets, we are prolonging lives but not necessarily the quality of life. Imagine living up to 100 years old and the world is changing way too quickly to you. I am already experiencing generation gap with the teenagers in my church!
But the word of God align my vision once again. As i am being pressured by the world to look forever young, i was told that inwardly i am being renewed day by day. Even as my friends are journeying their path, in staring at pain and suffering, but God is asking us not to lose heart. Because these are light and momentary troubles. Pain and suffering will be replaced by a renewed body for eternity. The same renewed body that Jesus have when he appeared to his disciples after his resurrection.
God is more interesting is US, our integrity and our character. These are the things that will last. The good news is pain and sufferings are only temporary. But through pain and sufferings, God is using them as classrooms to mould our character.
What is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
