Modern French cuisine: Incognico@Shaftesbury Avenue

We had a guest staying with us last week, Elaine. So, we looked for some value for money restaurant. Since she is from Malaysia, i suggested french cuisine.

So we booked a table at Incognico, Modern French
117 Shaftesbury Avenue
Soho
London, WC2H 8AN

We also specified that it's to celebrate her birthday. When we actually arrived, i couldn't believe that we walked past this restaurant every Sunday as it's just down the road from our church!

The ambience was good, i like the chair, leather and very comfortable.

We then ordered our three course.

Starter:
"San Daniele" Ham with Rocket and Pear Salad
Butternut soup
Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli with Red Pepper
Foie grais (goose liver)

The foie grais was really really good. Cooked to perfection in terms of timing, and the texture is smooth like butter, it just melts in your mouth!

Main course:
Rump of lamb with borlotti beans and tarragon
Honey roasted breast of duck with pomme fondant
Roast sea bass, braised endive and sauce vierge

Food presentation was great, and the meat was well cooked, very tender and succulent. The lamb was so tender that it didn't taste like lamb. The fish was well cooked too, the skin was crispy while the fish was fresh, the sauce was unique. My duck was good too, the skin again was flavoured with honey, for a French way of cooking duck, it's not bad at all ( i tend not to compare it with chinese roast duck).

Dessert:
Strawberry cheesecake, nicely decorated with "Happy birthday Elaine"
Pear and Almond Tart
Vanilla with Dark chocolate and Orange

The pastry for pear and almond tart was good and fresh. It was served warm.

Coffee:
We had latte and the coffe was good too. Feels very smooth and the coffee bean wasn't bitter.

Booked from toptable, there is an offer, 3 courses for £22. Oh did i mention they give champagne with that offer as well!
